CM Directs Officials to Rescue Tamils Stranded in Nepal Flash Floods

CHENNAI — Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has expressed deep shock and sorrow following reports that several Indians, including individuals from Tamil Nadu, have gone missing in devastating flash floods in Nepal.

In response to the natural disaster, the Chief Minister instructed senior government officials stationed at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi to initiate immediate measures to locate and rescue those affected and ensure that all necessary relief and assistance are extended to them.

Sharing the update on his official X account, the Chief Minister stated that he was deeply shocked and saddened by the reports of people from Tamil Nadu and across India missing in the sudden floods. He confirmed directing senior state officials in New Delhi to coordinate swift rescue efforts.

To support affected persons and their families, emergency helpline numbers have been established. These helpline facilities are aimed at enabling stranded individuals in Nepal who require urgent assistance, as well as their relatives in Tamil Nadu seeking information, to quickly establish contact with authorities.

State authorities are also coordinating closely with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of India in Nepal. Necessary steps are being expedited through these diplomatic and administrative channels to collect verified information regarding people from Tamil Nadu in the affected areas and to ensure their overall safety and well-being.
