Chennai Customs Seizes Rs 6 Crore Hydroponic Ganja at Airport, Arrests 2

Chennai Customs intercepted two Indian women passengers at the Chennai airport on Monday and seized six kilograms of hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 6 crore.

The passengers had arrived from Bangkok and attempted to exit the terminal through the green channel without making any customs declaration.

According to customs authorities, the checked-in baggage belonging to the two passengers showed suspicious images during routine screening. Following the detection, officials conducted a detailed physical examination of the luggage.

During the search, officers recovered eight packets containing high-grade hydroponic ganja concealed within the baggage. The total seized contraband weighed six kilograms, with an estimated market value of Rs 6 crore.

Customs officials seized the contraband and arrested both passengers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
