Indian and Vietnam Coast Guards Hold High-Level Bilateral Meeting in Chennai

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) held their seventh high-level bilateral meeting on Tuesday at the Coast Guard Regional Headquarters in Chennai. The session was conducted to reaffirm their mutual commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation and operational coordination between the two forces.

During the ongoing visit of the Vietnamese delegation to Chennai, Major General Luong Dinh Hung, Vice Commandant of the Vietnam Coast Guard, called on Director General of the Indian Coast Guard Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM.

The bilateral meeting was subsequently convened at the Coast Guard Regional Headquarters in the city. Director General Paramesh Sivamani led the Indian delegation during the talks, while Major General Luong Dinh Hung headed the visiting Vietnamese delegation.

The discussions provided a platform for representatives from both maritime forces to deliberate on matters of mutual interest and explore practical ways to further deepen their partnership. The talks focused specifically on enhancing professional cooperation, strengthening maritime engagements, and improving operational coordination between the ICG and the VCG.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to sustained engagement and closer cooperation, noting that such partnerships contribute toward maintaining a safe, secure, and sustainable maritime environment.

The meeting assumes significance amid growing maritime cooperation between India and Vietnam, particularly in areas involving professional exchanges, maritime security, and coordinated engagement at sea. Officials noted that the seventh round of the High-Level Meeting underscored the importance attached by both nations to continued interaction between their respective coast guard forces and the ongoing strengthening of their bilateral maritime partnership.
