Tamil Nadu Issues Extra Document Registration Tokens for Avani Avittam Rush

CHENNAI — The Tamil Nadu registration department has scaled up appointment quotas across all sub-registrar offices in the state, allocating additional online registration tokens to accommodate the anticipated rush on the auspicious occasion of Avani Avittam and Pournami.

According to an official release from the Inspector General of Registration, the decision to increase capacity was made in response to widespread public demand. Property and document registrations typically experience a sharp rise during auspicious days and festival periods, known as subha muhurtham, prompting officials to expand slot availability to ensure a smooth and hassle-free registration process ahead of the rush on August 27, 2026.

Under the revised quota, single sub-registrar offices will issue 150 online tokens instead of the standard limit of 100. Meanwhile, offices operating with two sub-registrars will see their appointment capacity rise from 200 tokens to 300 tokens.

Special provisions have also been established for high-demand areas. In the top 100 high-volume offices across the state where registrations are heavily concentrated, standard tokens have been increased from 100 to 150. In addition, these offices will offer four extra tatkal slots, bringing the total tatkal quota to 16 tokens per office.

The registration department has urged the public to make full use of the expanded online slot availability to schedule their property and document registrations conveniently.
