Vignesh Shivan's Film LIK Love Insurance Kompany Debuts With 3.5 Critic Rating

The Tamil romantic drama film "LIK: Love Insurance Kompany" released across theatres on April 3, 2026, presenting audiences with a youthful romance set in a futuristic, tech-driven version of Chennai. Directed and produced by Vignesh Shivan, the film features Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty in lead roles, exploring whether technology can truly map something as unpredictable as love.
Set in the year 2040, the sci-fi romance follows the story of Vibe Vassey, played by Pradeep Ranganathan, who serves as the voice of a compatibility app named LIK. The app was created by Suriyan, played by SJ Suryah, who firmly believes that technology can map human compatibility. Vassey, who is the son of a naturalist played by Seeman, finds his beliefs challenged when the app's algorithm declares him incompatible with Dheema, played by Krithi Shetty, whom he loves.
Despite its sci-fi trappings, the film is essentially an old-school romance between two characters who have been shaped by opposing belief systems. The production features confident world-building that lends the story a glossy, futuristic sheen.
The film's visual depiction of a futuristic Chennai was brought to life by director of photography Ravi Varman and production designer Muthuraj, alongside a visual effects team. The soundtrack for the high-energy entertainer was composed by Anirudh, adding a breezy and youthful tone to the production.
Following its release, the film garnered a critic's rating of 3.5 out of 5. Reviewers highlighted the movie's ability to balance its playful sci-fi spectacle with genuine warmth and reflections on technology's growing influence on modern life, despite occasional moments of crassness.
Audiences, however, gave the film a lower reception, with the user rating standing at 2.7 out of 5. The movie also stars Yogi Babu in a supporting role.
