Vice-President Addresses SRMIST Convocation at Kattankulathur Campus

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed graduates at the 22nd Convocation of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) at its Kattankulathur campus near Chennai, urging them to make "Nation First – Rashtra Pratham" their guiding principle in India's journey toward Viksit Bharat @2047.

Speaking at the ceremony, Radhakrishnan stated that research achieves its highest purpose when serving society. He encouraged the graduating class to apply their knowledge and innovation toward improving lives, contributing to human welfare, upholding constitutional values, and placing broader national interests above narrow self-interest.

During the event, Radhakrishnan also unveiled a 32-foot statue of SRMIST Founder Chancellor Dr T. R. Paarivendhar at the Vendhar Museum on campus.

Across SRMIST campuses, 11,684 students were eligible for degrees under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. A total of 8,084 degrees were conferred across the Kattankulathur and Vadapalani campuses, comprising 7,926 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and 158 PhDs. Medals were presented to 147 rank holders who secured first, second, and third ranks.

Tamil Nadu and Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar attended the convocation and noted that the graduates represent the country's future, urging them to direct their learning and technology toward national development.

Mahindra & Mahindra President (Automotive Business) R. Velusamy was conferred an honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) for his contributions to the mobility and automotive sector. Addressing the gathering, Velusamy stated that India should aim to lead rather than follow global trends.

SRMIST Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan outlined the institution's ongoing research and academic developments. He noted that the upcoming Electronic Cooling Centre would support India's initiatives in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and electric mobility through thermal-management technologies. He also administered an anti-drug pledge to the graduating students.
