Two Pachaiyappa's College Students Attacked With Knives in Metro Subway

Two first-year students of Pachaiyappa’s College were attacked with knives by a group of men inside the Chennai Metro subway connecting Central and Park stations on Monday morning. According to the Periamet police, the two students had gotten off at Central station and were walking through the subway toward Park station when the group intercepted and assaulted them.

Following the assault, the injured students were rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for treatment. A police officer confirmed that the victims are in stable condition, though they are currently not cooperating with the police inquiry.

Periamet police have detained seven people for questioning and are investigating whether the assault is tied to a long-running rivalry between college students. Authorities are probing whether the incident involved a dispute between Pachaiyappa’s College students and those from another city college. It remains unclear if the attackers belong to the same institution.

This incident marks the third clash involving college students in a two-week period. Previous altercations include a clash at Guindy station on July 20 that led to the arrest of three students, and an attack on a Presidency College student on July 8. Police stated that the investigation into Monday's subway attack is under way.
