Edappadi K Palaniswami Condemns Police Action Against Protesting Nurses in Chennai

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday condemned the state administration and police in Chennai over their crackdown on protesting nurses who were demonstrating peacefully for their long-pending demands.
Describing the police action against the frontline healthcare workers as the "height of cruelty," the Leader of the Opposition accused the state government of unleashing authoritarian tactics against professionals engaged in lifesaving public service.
Palaniswami took aim at the Chief Minister, questioning how an administration known for catchy rhetoric on social media could justify harsh measures against medical staff. He pointed out that before assuming power, leaders and current ministers had stood before these same nurses and offered grand assurances.
Highlighting the contrast between pre-election commitments and current governance, Palaniswami questioned whether this contradiction was what the ruling dispensation considered "change."
The AIADMK leader also criticized the state Health Minister, accusing the department of showing utter apathy toward the grievances of medical personnel as well as broader public health concerns, including the reported spread of dengue fever.
