Two Killed, Six Injured After Chennai-Madurai Bus Hits Lorry on Trichy Highway

Two persons were killed and six others sustained injuries after a private omnibus heading from Chennai rear-ended a moving lorry on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli National Highway on Thursday.

The accident occurred near the Electricity Board (EB) office situated at the four-road flyover in Perambalur. Police said the omnibus was carrying passengers from Chennai towards Madurai when it collided with the lorry from behind.

The lorry involved in the crash was traveling along the route from Tindivanam to Pudukkottai when the omnibus struck it.

Police identified the deceased as 52-year-old Pon Paldurai, a resident of Singampunari in Tirupattur district, and 32-year-old Thirunavukkarasu, hailing from Manali in Tiruvallur district.

Six people, including the driver of the omnibus and a female passenger, sustained injuries in the impact of the crash. The injured were rescued from the vehicle and admitted to the Perambalur Government Hospital for medical treatment.

The local police have registered a case regarding the fatal collision and stated that further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
