TN Denies Tender Norm Violations for Namakkal Kavignar Maligai Work

The Tamil Nadu government has denied any violation of tender norms in the ongoing construction of administrative office facilities on the 10th floor of the Namakkal Kavignar Maligai at the State Secretariat in Chennai.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the government clarified that only furniture and sound systems had been removed from the 10th floor following appropriate government orders. The removals were carried out to facilitate the shifting of the conference hall from the floor to the Kalaivanar Arangam premises.

The government stated that the tender notice for undertaking work in Block One, Block Two, and Block Three, where administrative offices are to be set up, had been duly issued through newspapers and official websites. The deadline for submitting tender applications was fixed for September 1.

According to the statement, tender applications would be opened only on September 1, and the construction contract would be awarded strictly to the lowest bidder (L1 tenderer). The timetable issued for the bidding process specified that tenders would be accepted until 3 pm on September 1.

The release noted that rules and regulations of the Finance Department mandate a minimum of 15 days from the date of tender notification. The government maintained that all procedures were being carried out in strict accordance with established regulations, and no norms were violated.
