Tirupur Textile Units Work Overtime For Jana Nayagan Fan T-Shirts Ahead Of Release
Garment manufacturing units in Tirupur worked round-the-clock to meet a massive surge in demand for customized fan T-shirts ahead of the July 23 release of the film 'Jana Nayagan', starring actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Fans in Chennai and across the state flooded manufacturers with orders to celebrate the upcoming theatrical release.
With just days remaining before the movie hits the screens, over 700 knitwear units in the textile hub of Tirupur engaged in producing these customized shirts. To handle the rush, local manufacturers introduced courier services and cash-on-delivery options across Tamil Nadu.
K Prabakaran, a member of the Tirupur Textile Unit Association, confirmed that the units began working overtime immediately after the film's release date was announced. Printers worked double shifts to meet the tight deadlines.
According to garment factory owner K Seva Nathan, orders came from Tamil Nadu as well as neighboring states like Kerala and Karnataka. The T-shirts feature portraits of Vijay, iconic stills from the movie, and slogans celebrating his political journey. Nathan noted that for many factory workers, who are fans themselves, the rush felt like a tribute to the star.
In Chennai, a local fan named Jayanth ordered 500 T-shirts from a Tirupur unit for his fan club. Jayanth expressed that the release is a historic cultural event and expected the shipment to arrive well before the premiere.
The film's journey to the big screen followed months of legal battles, an online leak, and a public standoff with the censor board. According to sources from the Tamil Nadu Film Distributors' Association, 'Jana Nayagan' is expected to screen in approximately 1,000 theatres across the state.
The movie features an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Narain. It features music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.
