RK Nagar Police Arrest Five Men Plotting Robberies Near Flyover

The RK Nagar police arrested five men, including two history-sheeters, beneath the flyover in RK Nagar on Saturday after they were allegedly found plotting to rob ATM users and traders.
The arrested suspects have been identified by the police as Mugilan (21), Lokesh Raj (20), Manimaran (21), Abinesh (25), and Ameed (22). All five men are residents of north Chennai.
According to the police, a patrol team spotted the group gathering suspiciously beneath the RK Nagar flyover on Saturday. Investigations revealed that the five men were allegedly waiting at the spot to waylay individuals withdrawing cash from ATMs, as well as traders carrying money.
During the apprehension, police seized two knives, two wooden logs, chilli powder, and a motorcycle from the possession of the suspects.
Police records show that Mugilan was previously booked in seven cases, including charges of murder and robbery. Lokesh Raj has three pending cases against him, which also include a murder charge. Both Mugilan and Lokesh Raj have been officially classified as history-sheeters at the RK Nagar police station. Additionally, Ameed has a prior assault case registered against him.
Following the arrests and seizure of weapons, all five men were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
