Raasi Builders Lowest Bidder for CM Office Renovation at Namakkal Kavignar Maligai

Chennai-based Raasi Builders has emerged as the lowest bidder in all three tenders floated by the Public Works Department (PWD) for renovating Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's sea-facing office at Namakkal Kavignar Maligai in Chennai.

The PWD had invited three separate tenders for interior works covering blocks 1, 2, and 3 of the office situated on the 10th floor of the complex. The combined project cost for the works across all three blocks had been estimated at Rs 5.54 crore.

Raasi Builders quoted a total sum of Rs 3.78 crore to carry out the work, which stands about 32% lower than the department's estimated cost. In block 1, the firm quoted Rs 1.66 crore against the PWD's estimated cost of Rs 2.41 crore. For block 2, it bid Rs 1.37 crore against the estimated Rs 2.01 crore, and for block 3, it submitted an offer of Rs 74.94 lakh against the estimate of Rs 1.12 crore.

A total of four contractors participated across all three tenders. Besides Raasi Builders, the other bidders were Eswari Constructions, M Cube Infra, and Shri Raghavendra Builders. A fifth firm, Yudek Engineering, was disqualified during the technical evaluation stage in all three tenders.

Officials stated that the award of the contract will be finalised soon. The scope of the project encompasses interior design and related works for the chief minister's workspace as well as the conference hall located on the 10th floor.
