MP Kanimozhi Demands Action Against TVK Functionary Over Salem Sexual Abuse

CHENNAI — DMK Deputy General Secretary and Member of Parliament Kanimozhi has demanded strict action against a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) functionary following allegations of mass sexual abuse in Salem. The MP expressed deep shock over the case, which reportedly involves the abuse of more than 50 women.

The allegations against the TVK member involve threatening, sexually abusing, and filming the victims. In a statement posted on the social media platform X on Saturday, Kanimozhi described the details of the alleged crimes as highly disturbing. She urged the state government to take immediate and stringent action against the accused individual.

In her public statement, the DMK leader drew a direct comparison between the current allegations in Salem and the previous Pollachi sexual assault case. Kanimozhi stated that the government must not make any attempts to shield the accused party. She noted that the previous AIADMK regime had allegedly attempted to shield the perpetrators during the Pollachi scandal, and she insisted that the current administration must avoid repeating such actions.

Kanimozhi has demanded that a proper and complete investigation be launched into the case immediately. She emphasized that all perpetrators involved in the alleged abuse must be brought to justice under the law.

Furthermore, the MP called on the state government to prioritize the safety and security of all the affected women. She stressed the importance of ensuring that the victims are guaranteed safety and that justice is delivered to them. The demand from the prominent DMK leader has increased pressure on law enforcement and authorities to take swift action regarding the alleged mass abuse.

The case has drawn significant attention across Tamil Nadu, highlighting concerns over safety and justice for women. Kanimozhi's statement underscores the demand for accountability and a transparent investigation into the actions of the TVK functionary. The MP's remarks reflect a broader call for the protection of victims and the enforcement of strict legal measures against those accused of such offenses.
