Minister S Ramesh inspects Vadapalani temple after devotee complaints

Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister S Ramesh conducted an inspection at the Vadapalani Andavar temple in Vadapalani on Tuesday. The inspection was carried out following complaints from devotees who reported facing difficulties during darshan and navigating the temple walkways, which have been encroached upon by local vendors.

While the minister was conducting his visit at the temple, a few devotees noticed his presence and approached him directly. They raised immediate concerns over being prevented from reaching the inner sanctum of the temple, pointing out that barricades had been placed as far as 20 feet away.

In response to these direct grievances, Minister Ramesh reviewed the current layout and discussed plans to better manage the flow of visitors. He suggested the utilization of dedicated waiting areas specifically for those coming for free darshan, aiming to ensure a much smoother path for the devotees.

Addressing the crowd management measures, Ramesh emphasized that certain restrictions remain necessary. He explained that these rules are vital to safely manage large crowds and prevent potential emergencies, such as overcrowding or devotees fainting.

The minister also addressed the issue of traffic congestion around the temple premises. Ramesh announced that vehicles will be restricted from entering certain areas, which will allow pedestrians to enjoy free access at both of the temple's gates.

Finally, regarding the flower shops and other vendors who are currently blocking the public paths, the Minister promised to organize a proper space for them. This step is intended to relocate the vendors so that devotees visiting the temple are no longer hindered.
