Man Accused of Stabbing 16-Year-Old Girl Dies by Suicide in Cuddalore

S. Ayyappan, a 28-year-old electrician accused of stabbing a 16-year-old girl in Chidambaram for rejecting his proposal, died by suicide on Sunday in C Mutlur village near Chidambaram in Cuddalore district. The victim, a Class XI student, remains in critical condition at the Rajah Muthiah Government Medical College and Hospital located at Annamalai Nagar in Chidambaram following the assault.

Police reported that Ayyappan had been stalking the school student for several days leading up to the incident. Despite receiving repeated rejections from the 16-year-old girl, he continued to harass her. On Sunday, Ayyappan barged into her house when she was alone inside and demanded that she accept his proposal.

When the girl rejected his proposal once again, Ayyappan pulled out a penknife that he had concealed and repeatedly stabbed her across her neck, back, and hands. Hearing her scream, neighbours in the vicinity rushed to her rescue and transported her to the hospital, while Ayyappan fled the scene.

Following the attack, Ayyappan went to his house in C Mutlur village, where he was later found hanging. Police stated that they were alerted by Ayyappan's relatives. Authorities recovered the body and sent it to the government hospital for a postmortem examination around midnight.
