Former Chief Personnel Manager of The Hindu A. Anantharaman Dies at 91

A. Anantharaman, former Chief Personnel Manager of The Hindu, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026. He was 91.

Mr. Anantharaman joined The Hindu in 1981 and headed its personnel department. He served the organisation for more than 15 years before his retirement. Prior to his tenure at the publication, he had worked as the Personnel Manager at Enfield India.

A nonagenarian, Mr. Anantharaman was an expert in personnel management and labour studies. Over the course of his career, he shared his expertise with students and professionals as a guest faculty member at Madras University.

His academic engagements extended across several prominent institutions in Tamil Nadu. He served as a guest lecturer at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mylapore, the Madras School of Social Work, and other educational institutions in the State.

Mr. Anantharaman is survived by his wife, A. Jayam, and his daughter, Lalithasai. His wife retired as the Head of the Department of Tamil at Ethiraj College.
