Food delivery worker critically injured in gang attack near Tiruttani police station

A 35-year-old food delivery worker was left critically injured after an unidentified gang sprayed chilli powder in his eyes and attacked him with a sharp weapon on Kannigapuram Road near the Tiruttani police station in Tiruttani. The violent attack took place between Sunday night and early Monday morning, leaving the victim with severe cut injuries.

The victim has been identified as Tamilarasan, a resident of Tiruttani. According to police reports, Tamilarasan left his house at approximately 8:00 PM on Sunday but did not return home as expected.

Early on Monday morning, passers-by noticed a man lying by the roadside on Kannigapuram Road. Upon closer inspection, they found Tamilarasan suffering from multiple cut injuries across his body and chilli powder in his eyes. The passers-by immediately alerted the local authorities.

Upon receiving the information, police officers rushed to the scene and transported Tamilarasan to a government hospital in Tiruttani. He is currently receiving treatment at the medical facility, where doctors have listed him in critical condition.

The Tiruttani police have launched an active investigation into the incident. Officers are currently probing multiple angles to establish the motive behind the brutal assault. One line of inquiry is whether the attack was an attempted robbery, with the gang targeting Tamilarasan's cash, jewellery, and mobile phone. Alternatively, investigators are also looking into whether the assault was the result of prior enmity.

Due to his severe injuries and critical health status, Tamilarasan has not yet been able to provide a statement or disclose the full details of the incident to the police.

Tamilarasan had recently transitioned to a new line of work. He previously worked as a mechanic at a two-wheeler dealership before taking up a job as a food delivery worker approximately 20 days ago. Police are continuing their efforts to identify and track down the unidentified members of the gang.
