In his greeting, Vijay wished for a world that follows Lord Krishna's message of moving forward on the path of righteousness, immediately sparking an ideological debate across the state.

In the greeting, Vijay conveyed his heartfelt wishes on the festival of Krishna Jayanti, expressing hope that everyone's homes and hearts would be filled with joy and happiness. He also highlighted that righteousness will triumph against injustice, underscoring the need to perform one's duty without fail under all circumstances and to proceed with mental resolve on the path of dharma.
Vijay's Janmashtami greetings come against the backdrop of wider political discourse within Tamil Nadu regarding the ideological positioning of the Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam. While reformist leader Periyar remains a guiding figure for the TVK, Vijay has previously stated on record that he disagrees with Periyar on matters of religious faith.
