Chennai Mayor R Priya Lodges Police Complaint Over Online Harassment

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Mayor R Priya lodged a formal complaint on Monday with Chennai Police Commissioner A Amalraj, alleging that unidentified individuals have been harassing her and circulating defamatory content across social media platforms.

According to the complaint, individuals have been repeatedly contacting Mayor Priya, causing her severe mental distress. The complaint also highlights that defamatory content has been posted online with the intent to tarnish her public reputation.

Mayor Priya submitted details of multiple social media accounts alleged to be involved in circulating the defamatory material. She urged the city police to identify the persons operating behind these accounts and demanded stringent legal action against those responsible for the harassment.

Following the receipt of the complaint, Police Commissioner A Amalraj directed police officials to initiate a detailed inquiry into the matter. Mayor Priya was not available for further comment.
