6th Chennai Kaalpandhu League Kicks Off in Shenoy Nagar with 700 Students
The sixth season of the Chennai Kaalpandhu League kicked off at the Pavendar Bharathidasan Play Field in Shenoy Nagar on Monday, bringing together 700 boys and girls from government schools across the city. The week-long football tournament is designed to offer young students structured match experience and foster grassroots athletics.
This edition of the Under-13 league features 43 teams representing 30 schools. Organised with the backing of LatentView Analytics, the competition provides participating students an opportunity to experience an organised tournament, develop their football skills, and learn the values of discipline and teamwork.
The tournament was officially inaugurated at the Shenoy Nagar ground by Akhil Prakash, Chief Operating Officer of Chennaiyin FC. During the opening event, Prakash commended the initiative for creating an accessible competitive platform for government school students.
"It is wonderful to see so many young students getting the opportunity to experience organised football at this age," Prakash said. When companies come forward with initiatives like these, it not only contributes to improving the overall well-being and lifestyle of children but also helps identify and nurture sporting talent at the grassroots. CKL gives children the space to discover their potential, build confidence and develop discipline through sport."
Pramad Jandhyala, co-founder of LatentView, noted the positive social and personal impact the competition brings to young participants. Jandhyala added that the broader influence of sport extends well beyond the pitch, which remains the central developmental goal the company seeks to reinforce through the tournament. Matches in the league will continue through September 12.
