Worker critically injured after 15-foot fall at Vanagaram construction site

A 26-year-old migrant worker is in critical condition after falling from the first floor of a construction site on Captain TV Road in Vanagaram, Chennai, on Saturday night.

The injured labourer has been identified by the police as Rubial Mondal, a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal. Mondal had been working as a labourer at the construction site of a commercial complex in the locality for the past six months.

According to the police, the accident took place while Mondal was carrying out cement concrete paving work. During the task, he lost his footing and fell from a height of 15 feet.

Fellow workers at the site immediately came to his rescue and rushed him to a nearby private hospital. Owing to the severity of his injuries, Mondal was later shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for specialised treatment.

The Vanagaram police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.
