Woman Held at Chennai Airport After Bullets and Magazine Found in Bag

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel detained a woman passenger at Terminal 1 of Chennai airport on Saturday morning after discovering three live rounds and a firearm magazine inside her hand baggage during routine security screening.
The passenger was scheduled to travel to Kochi accompanied by her family aboard an IndiGo flight, which was scheduled for departure at 8:00 am. The incident took place during the mandatory pre-embarkation security checks at the domestic terminal.
According to officials, the detection occurred at around 6:40 am while the passenger was undergoing security clearance. CISF personnel operating the screening apparatus noticed a suspicious image inside her carry-on luggage and promptly flagged the bag for a manual physical inspection.
During the physical search of the bag, security personnel retrieved three live rounds and a magazine. Security staff immediately questioned the passenger and asked her to produce valid documents, firearm licenses, or official authorization permitting her to carry the ammunition and magazine.
The passenger was unable to produce any valid documentation or permits to explain the presence of the live rounds in her luggage.
Following the inspection and her inability to provide authorization, CISF personnel detained the passenger at the airport terminal. At around 8:10 am, security officials handed her over to the local police, along with the seized live rounds and magazine, for further investigation and legal action.
