Woman Head Constable Stabbed to Death by Husband Near Gudiyattam

A woman head constable attached to the Gudiyattam taluk police station was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband near Nellorpettai on the Gudiyattam-Pernambut road on Thursday night while returning home after duty.
The deceased, identified as A Thamaraiselvi of Erthangal, was riding home on her two-wheeler around 8 pm when her husband, Arvindan, intercepted her vehicle. Arvindan, who works as an auto driver, allegedly attacked her with a pair of scissors, stabbing her in the neck before fleeing the scene.
Thamaraiselvi collapsed in a pool of blood on the road. Passersby who witnessed the aftermath rushed her to the government hospital in Gudiyattam. However, doctors at the facility declared her brought dead on arrival.
Shortly after the incident, Arvindan went to the same government hospital and got himself admitted, claiming that he had sustained injuries. According to police, Arvindan had inflicted injuries on his own chest using the same pair of scissors used in the attack. Police personnel are currently questioning him at the hospital.
Investigators stated that the couple, who have two children, had been involved in frequent arguments over an ongoing family dispute over the past few days.
Police have registered a case regarding the incident, and further investigation is currently under way.
