VP Radhakrishnan Pays Tribute to Former Governor La Ganesan in Chennai

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan paid rich tributes to former Governor La Ganesan on his first death anniversary at a commemorative function held in Chennai. During the event, the Vice President also officially inaugurated the ‘Ala.Ila Trust’ established in memory of the late leader.

Recalling Ganesan’s life of dedication and perseverance, the Vice President noted that he had given up a government job in the Revenue Department to devote himself full-time to national service as an RSS Pracharak. Ganesan subsequently took up political roles, serving as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary and National Vice-President. He played a key role in nurturing party leaders during his tenure as its organisational general secretary in Tamil Nadu in the 1990s.

Radhakrishnan highlighted that Ganesan brought maturity, inclusiveness, and a strong commitment to public service across all his political and constitutional responsibilities. Ganesan served as the Governor of Manipur from 2021, held additional charge as the Governor of West Bengal from July to November 2022, and served as the Governor of Nagaland from February 2023.

The Vice President also spoke about Ganesan’s deep passion for the Tamil language, culture, literature, and the Kambaramayanam. He welcomed the Ala Ila Foundation’s initiative to provide educational scholarships, noting that the move would help preserve Ganesan’s memory and carry forward his ideals in the community.

The commemorative gathering was attended by several dignitaries, including Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, BJP state president Nainar Nagendran, H Raja, and Nalli Kuppusami Chettiar. Ala Ila Foundation trustees Chandra Gopalan and Dr G Gayathri were also present at the event.
