Vijay, Stalin and Palaniswami to Campaign for Madurantakam and Dharapuram Bypolls

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK founder C Joseph Vijay, DMK president M K Stalin, and AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami are set to campaign on Friday ahead of the October 6 assembly bypolls. The high-stakes campaign has intensified across the two constituencies, with Vijay scheduled to hold a roadshow at Madurantakam near Chennai on Friday evening.
The electoral contest in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram segments was necessitated after sitting legislators Maragatham Kumaravel and Sathyabama quit their MLA posts. Both leaders also resigned their memberships from the AIADMK and subsequently joined the ruling TVK, turning allegations of horse-trading into a key electoral issue.
Vijay had previously held rallies in both Madurantakam and Dharapuram to canvass votes for his party's candidates. The TVK has fielded Maragatham Kumaravel as its nominee in Madurantakam, while P Sathyabama is contesting on the party's ticket in Dharapuram.
Former chief minister M K Stalin will launch his campaign at Dharapuram in western Tamil Nadu. His scheduled arrival follows ground campaigning already undertaken by DMK leaders Udhayanidhi Stalin and Kanimozhi in both assembly segments. The DMK has fielded I Paranthaman in Madurantakam and S Suganya in Dharapuram.
AIADMK chief Palaniswami will also campaign at Dharapuram, where he is scheduled to hold a roadshow. The AIADMK has named Kanitha Samptah as its candidate for the Madurantakam constituency and K Bhanumathi as its nominee in Dharapuram.
