Vaiko Loses Temper At Chengalpet Press Meet As Supporters Attempt To Attack Reporters

MDMK general secretary Vaiko lost his temper during a press conference in Chengalpet, leading to a tense situation where his supporters and party functionaries attempted to attack journalists. The incident occurred when reporters questioned Vaiko regarding his recent public criticism of the DMK, despite his party's past alliance with them.

During the press meet, Vaiko leveled serious allegations against the DMK administration, claiming that there was corruption everywhere during the DMK's five-year rule. He specifically alleged that money was obtained for every square foot of land during land registrations under the previous government.

Following these allegations, a reporter intervened to ask Vaiko why he had not raised these corruption issues while his party was still a part of the DMK-led government. Vaiko responded to the question by asking, "How can one oppose while remaining in an alliance?" and added that speaking out under those circumstances would have been against coalition ethics.

As the exchange continued, Vaiko grew furious. He asked the reporter who questioned him whether they belonged to a media house that supports the DMK, and subsequently refused to answer any further questions from the press.

When the reporter pressed further for an answer on the alliance issue, MDMK supporters and party functionaries present at the venue tried to attack the reporters. Policemen who were stationed at the press meet quickly intervened to separate the party supporters from the journalists. The intervention of the police successfully resolved the issue amicably.

Vaiko has maintained a highly critical stance against the DMK ever since he announced his decision to quit the DMK alliance. He had formally announced the decision to leave the alliance at the MDMK general council meeting held on June 27.
