Vadapalani woman killed, seven injured in car crash near Tirupputkuzhi flyover

A 23-year-old woman from Vadapalani was killed and seven other people were seriously injured on Sunday after a speeding truck rammed into their car near the Tirupputkuzhi flyover in Kancheepuram.
The deceased was identified as H Ananthi, the wife of 28-year-old Harish. Both were residents of the Vadapalani neighbourhood in Chennai.
According to the police, the couple, along with a group of six friends, had set out on a road trip to Yelagiri. The friends travelling with them in the car were identified as Kishore, Jaideep, Gopi, Naveen, Santhosh, and Percival.
The accident occurred as their car was descending the Tirupputkuzhi flyover. A truck travelling at high speed crashed into the rear of their vehicle, leaving all eight occupants with serious injuries.
Passersby who witnessed the collision immediately alerted the authorities. Following the alert, personnel from the Baluchetty Chatram police station rushed to the spot and shifted the injured victims to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital in ambulances.
Doctors at the hospital declared Ananthi dead on arrival. The remaining seven injured individuals, including Harish and the couple's friends, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The Baluchetty Chatram police have registered a case regarding the incident. A search is currently underway to locate the truck driver, who fled the scene immediately after the accident.
