Unidentified man dies by suicide near SIDCO Industrial Estate in Thirumudivakkam

An unidentified youth died by suicide after jumping in front of a speeding truck near the Electricity Board office roundabout in the SIDCO Industrial Estate, Thirumudivakkam, on Wednesday night. The incident, which occurred within the jurisdiction of the Chromepet Traffic Investigation Wing, resulted in the victim being killed on the spot.
According to the police, the lorry driver, identified as 30-year-old Mahesh who hails from Kundrathur, was returning to Thirumudivakkam from Oragadam when the tragedy occurred.
As Mahesh was driving his vehicle past the Electricity Board office roundabout inside the SIDCO Industrial Estate, the unidentified youth suddenly darted across the road. The young man positioned himself directly in front of the moving lorry, leaving the driver with no time to avoid a collision.
The front right wheel of the speeding truck ran over the youth, causing fatal injuries. He died at the scene of the accident before any medical assistance could be administered.
Upon being alerted to the incident on Wednesday night, personnel from the Chromepet Traffic Investigation Wing rushed to the spot. They secured the area, recovered the body of the deceased, and sent it to the government hospital in Tambaram for a postmortem examination.
The Chromepet Traffic Investigation Wing has launched a further investigation into the tragic incident. Officers are currently working to ascertain the identity of the deceased youth and to determine the exact reason that led to him taking his own life.
