Udhayanidhi Stalin Calls Chief Minister Vijay Dummy CM at DMK Lawyers Meet

CHENNAI — Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday referred to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay as a “dummy CM” and accused the TVK government of merely renaming and putting stickers on welfare schemes introduced by the previous DMK government.

Speaking at a meeting of the DMK’s north-zone lawyers’ wing in Chennai, Udhayanidhi launched a direct attack on the functioning of the Vijay-led administration, alleging that the ruling party was struggling to retain its political support.

Addressing party members, Udhayanidhi stated that the TVK had come to power on the promise of systemic change and corruption-free governance, but had failed to introduce any meaningful initiatives of its own.

“They came to power promising change and a clean, corruption-free govt. But what have they done? They have only changed the names of every scheme brought by our leader and put stickers on them. There is no other change,” Udhayanidhi said.

Criticising the governance and leadership of the ruling party, Udhayanidhi remarked that the new group had stumbled into power. He stated that while a regular pack of cards contains only one or two jokers, the current government consists of 52 jokers.

Udhayanidhi also targeted ministers and legislators of the administration, claiming that the public does not recognise them by their actual names.

“Even today, people do not know who the ministers and MLAs are. Only when we mention their nicknames do people understand whom we are talking about,” he said, asserting that citizens remain unfamiliar with the identities of the elected representatives.
