Two Youths Killed by Speeding Car While Shooting Reels on Thachur-Chittoor Highway

Two youngsters who were filming videos for social media in the middle of a national highway were fatally struck by a speeding car on Friday evening near Pallipattu in Tiruvallur district.
The incident took place on the Thachur-Chittoor green corridor national highway. Police identified the deceased as 19-year-old E Jayakumar and 17-year-old S Lokesh. Both were residents of Karlampakkam village near Pallipet. Lokesh was studying in Class XII at a private school located in Pallipattu.
According to preliminary inquiries conducted by the police, the fatal crash occurred at around 4:30 pm. The two youths had been travelling on a motorcycle from Puttur towards their native village when they decided to halt on the highway.
While stopped on the stretch, the duo stepped onto the carriageway to record videos to upload as reels on social media platforms. As they were busy filming in the middle of the road, a luxury car heading towards Chennai from Bengaluru struck them at high speed.
Both Jayakumar and Lokesh suffered severe head and body injuries due to the impact and died at the scene. Passersby who noticed the accident immediately alerted the Pallipattu police.
Police personnel arrived at the spot, recovered the bodies of the two victims, and sent them to the Tiruttani Government Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Investigators identified the driver of the car as 55-year-old J Henry Isaac, a resident of Kothagudem in Telangana. The luxury vehicle involved in the collision bore a Maharashtra registration number. Police stated that the driver abandoned the scene immediately after the crash and is currently absconding.
A case has been registered by the Pallipattu police following a formal complaint lodged by Jayakumar's father. A search operation has been launched to locate and apprehend the driver, and investigators are actively examining CCTV footage from the highway stretch as part of the ongoing probe.
