Two men, including cousin, arrested for gang-rape of minor girl near Sadras

The Mahabalipuram All Women Police arrested two men on Tuesday night for the alleged gang-rape of a 14-year-old girl near Sadras in Chennai. The arrested individuals include the victim's 20-year-old cousin and his 28-year-old friend. Both men have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to sources within the Mahabalipuram police, the two accused men were residing on the second floor of the same building where the minor girl and her family lived. The suspects allegedly formulated a conspiracy to sexually assault the girl after they learned that she had recently attained puberty.
The alleged assault took place when the girl was alone at her residence. Police sources stated that the two men noticed there was no one present at the victim's home. Taking advantage of the situation, the duo allegedly called the 14-year-old girl upstairs to the second floor, where they subsequently sexually assaulted her.
Upon learning of the assault, the victim's parents approached the authorities to seek justice. They lodged an official complaint at the Mahabalipuram All Women Police Station on Monday evening.
Following the filing of the complaint, the Mahabalipuram police initiated a swift investigation into the matter. This investigation led to the identification and apprehension of the two suspects on Tuesday night.
After their arrest, the 20-year-old cousin and his 28-year-old friend were produced before a local court. The court subsequently remanded both of the accused men to judicial custody as the legal proceedings against them continue under the POCSO Act.
