Two Men Arrested for Burgling Weaver's House in Kosavanpettai Near Periyapalayam

The police in Chennai have arrested two men in connection with a house burglary at Kosavanpettai village near Periyapalayam. The break-in took place at the home of a local weaver, Vijayakumar, on the morning of May 28.
According to the police, the burglary occurred while Vijayakumar and his wife were away from their residence to visit a nearby temple. When the couple returned home later that morning, they discovered that their house had been broken into. The perpetrators had gained entry by breaking the roof tiles of the house. Inside, the couple found their almirah damaged and their valuables missing.
The victims reported that about five sovereigns of gold and ₹80,000 in cash had been stolen from the damaged almirah. Following the incident, the police initiated inquiries to track down the offenders.
The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, identified as Ganesan, 24, and Gunasekaran, 27. Both of the arrested men are residents of the same village of Kosavanpettai where the crime was committed.
During questioning, the suspects disclosed that they had buried the stolen gold and cash along the banks of the Arani River. Based on this information, the police conducted a search and recovered three-and-a-half sovereigns of gold and ₹41,000 in cash from the spot. The remaining stolen valuables were not immediately recovered. The two suspects have been taken into custody.
