Two Guest Workers Arrested in Uthiramerur for Harassing Woman, Assaulting Man

Uthiramerur police arrested two guest workers on Friday evening after they allegedly harassed a woman and attacked a resident who intervened on Bazaar Road in Uthiramerur, Kancheepuram district.

The incident took place when Premkumar, 38, a daily wage labourer residing on Bazaar Road, witnessed two intoxicated men harassing a woman walking along the stretch. When Premkumar questioned their behaviour and intervened, an altercation ensued, and the two men attacked him.

Neighbourhood residents quickly rushed to the spot upon witnessing the assault, overpowered the two accused, and handed them over to the local police.

Investigators identified the accused as Mohammed Thamees, 36, a native of Bihar, and Vishal Rajbar, 29, from Uttar Pradesh. According to police, both men were employed at a private iron and steel factory located in Melpakkam village.

The Uthiramerur police registered a case, arrested the duo, and produced them before a court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
