Two Dead, Two Injured in Three-Bike Crash on Chennai-Tirupati Highway near Tiruttani

Two youths were killed and two others sustained severe injuries in an accident involving three motorcycles at Lakshmapuram on the Chennai-Tirupati National Highway near Tiruttani in the early hours of Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Tharun, a resident of Tiruttani, and 31-year-old Sanjeevi Raman from Chromepet.

According to the police, Tharun and his friend Naveen Kumar (24) of Medinapuram were travelling towards Tiruttani from Tiruvallur on a motorcycle. As they reached Lakshmapuram, their two-wheeler collided head-on with the motorcycle ridden by Sanjeevi Raman.

The severe impact of the crash threw the riders onto the road, killing both Tharun and Sanjeevi Raman on the spot. Shortly after the initial collision, a third motorcyclist, identified as 24-year-old Surya, who was travelling towards Tiruvallur, crashed into the vehicles lying on the highway.

Surya and Naveen Kumar suffered severe injuries in the incident. Emergency responders transported both injured youths in a 108 ambulance to the Tiruttani Government Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.

The bodies of Tharun and Sanjeevi Raman were also shifted to the Tiruttani Government Hospital for postmortem examinations.

The Kanakammachathiram police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the collision. Police stated that preliminary inquiries indicate speeding on the highway during the early morning hours may have contributed to the fatal accident.
