The Mylapore Traffic Investigation Wing arrested two young men on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, for allegedly performing dangerous motorcycle stunts and riding in a rash manner on the Music Academy flyover on Cathedral Road in the Royapettah area of Mylapore. The arrests were made after a video of the dangerous stunt went viral on social media, prompting public concern over road safety in the neighborhood.

The police identified the arrested individuals as 21-year-old Suresh, who resides in Nesapakkam, and 20-year-old Deepak Kumar, a resident of Choolaipallam in West Jafferkhanpet. Both men face charges related to their reckless riding on the public flyover, which endangered the safety of other commuters and pedestrians in the busy area.

According to officials, the incident came to light after a video began circulating widely on social media platforms a few days prior to the arrest. The footage depicted a group of youngsters riding their motorcycles in an extremely rash and hazardous manner along the Music Academy flyover on Cathedral Road.

In addition to the dangerous riding, the video captured a highly risky stunt where a rider was seen dragging an iron barricade that had been placed near the flyover. The rider dragged the heavy metal structure along the road while continuing to ride the motorcycle, creating a significant hazard on the flyover.

Following the online circulation of the video, a local resident named Ahmed Ali Imran lodged a formal complaint with the police on June 30, 2026. Based on this complaint, the Mylapore Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case and immediately launched an active investigation at the scene of the incident on Cathedral Road.

Using the video footage and conducting inquiries at the spot, the police successfully identified Suresh and Deepak Kumar as the key suspects involved in the stunt.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, police teams tracked down and arrested both Suresh and Deepak Kumar. During the operation, the police also seized the KTM Duke motorcycle that was used by the youth to perform the dangerous stunts on the flyover.
