TVK Files Police Complaint Against R B Udhayakumar Over Remarks on Vijay and Trisha

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has lodged an official complaint with the district superintendent of police in Thoothukudi, seeking legal action against former AIADMK minister R.B. Udhayakumar. The complaint was submitted following allegations that the former minister made derogatory remarks targeting Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and actor Trisha during a political event held in the district.

The formal police complaint was personally delivered to the office of the district superintendent of police by TVK district office-bearer Gautham, who was accompanied by several other key party functionaries from the region. The delegation of TVK leaders urged law enforcement authorities to intervene and initiate appropriate legal proceedings against Udhayakumar after conducting a detailed inquiry into his remarks.

The controversial comments were allegedly made on August 8 during a Jayalalithaa Peravai meeting in Thoothukudi, where Udhayakumar was addressing cadres of the AIADMK party. The event served as a platform for the former minister to speak to party workers on key political issues affecting the state.

During his speech at the Jayalalithaa Peravai gathering, Udhayakumar was actively criticizing the Tamil Nadu government over its handling of the ongoing Cauvery river water issue. In his address, he raised concerns regarding the state government's failure to get the state of Karnataka to release the required quantum of Cauvery water that had been ordered by the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA).

However, the TVK has alleged that during this address, Udhayakumar made objectionable and derogatory remarks directed at Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and actor Trisha. The party leaders asserted that such remarks were entirely unacceptable and called on the police department to thoroughly investigate the speech delivered at the event.

In their submission to the district superintendent of police in Thoothukudi, Gautham and the accompanying TVK functionaries formally requested that an inquiry be launched immediately to examine the content of Udhayakumar's speech and that appropriate legal action be taken against him under the law.
