TNSTC Announces Math and Science Talent Tests for Chennai School Students

The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre (TNSTC) in Chennai is organising a math and science talent test this year for school students studying in Classes VI through IX across all boards. The offline examinations are scheduled to take place across designated exam centres in the city in October.

According to the details released by the centre, the talent search will be conducted over two separate dates. The mathematics examination will be held on October 4, followed by the science examination on October 11. Both tests are scheduled to be conducted in the morning slot, running from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Each of the exams will consist of 100 questions, and there will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

The syllabus for the mathematics test covers a wide range of foundational and analytical topics. The question paper will assess candidates on arithmetic, logical reasoning, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio and proportion, mensuration, algebra, geometry, sequences and series, and data interpretation.

For the science talent test, the evaluation will feature questions from core subjects including physics, chemistry, and biology. The exam will also test students on environmental science, everyday science, practical scientific applications, human and body science, and other related scientific areas.

To encourage student participation and recognise academic merit, TNSTC has instituted several cash awards for high achievers in the competition. The candidate who secures the first rank as the top-scorer will receive a cash prize of ₹3,000. Two students who finish in second place will each be awarded ₹2,000. Additionally, three students securing third place will receive ₹1,000 each, and five students achieving fourth place will be awarded ₹500 each.

Eligible school students who wish to participate in the talent tests can complete their registration process online. Candidates must apply through the official link at https://tnstcmathtest.web.app/ on or before the deadline of September 10. Applicants will need to pay an examination fee of ₹100 per exam to complete their registration.
