TNRERA Grants Four-Month Extension for Real Estate Projects Hit by West Asia Conflict

The Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) in Chennai has granted a blanket four-month extension for the registration and completion of real estate projects affected by the prevailing West Asia conflict.

In a circular dated August 10, the regulatory authority announced that the relief will apply to projects whose completion date, revised completion date, or extended completion date falls on or after February 28, 2026.

TNRERA invoked the force majeure provision under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, to issue the order. The authority officially treated the prevailing situation in West Asia as a "war" in order to invoke the statutory provision.

The extended period will be provided automatically to eligible projects. Real estate developers are not required to submit individual applications or pay any additional fee to avail of the four-month extension for their projects.
