TNCC Holds Rally in Chennai Against Proposed Delimitation Bill

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) held a protest in Chennai on Sunday as part of a statewide rally against the proposed delimitation bill introduced by the Union BJP government. Leading the rally in the city, TNCC chief Manickam Tagore demanded that the DMK clarify its official stance regarding the proposed legislation.

Addressing the gathered gathering, Tagore criticized the DMK for failing to participate in an all-party meeting for Members of Parliament, which had been convened on Saturday by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Tagore expressed disappointment over the absence of the representatives, stating it was saddening that many Tamil Nadu MPs chose not to attend the meeting.

Tagore addressed arguments raised by the DMK regarding the timing of the protests. He stated that DMK leaders had questioned why Congress was speaking about delimitation when the bill had not yet been tabled, despite knowing that the BJP government could table the bill without any prior announcement.

During the Chennai demonstration, Congress functionaries and cadres carried banners displaying slogans such as 'Modi-Limitation' and raised slogans against the BJP-led Union government and the delimitation bill.

Hitting out at the DMK, Tagore urged the party not to offer lame excuses for skipping the all-party meeting. He stated that the party should instead admit if its MPs did not want to see Vijay's face or if they were upset because their party president was not invited to the meeting.
