TN Signs Rs 67,452 Crore Investment Pacts With 97 Firms in Chennai

The Tamil Nadu government signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreements with 97 companies representing a total investment commitment of over Rs 67,452 crore at the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2026 in Chennai on Thursday. Signed in the presence of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Industries Minister S Keerthana, the proposed investments are projected to generate 1.20 lakh job opportunities across sectors including automotive, renewables, life sciences, electronics, research and development, and data centers.

The event marked the TVK government's first investor conclave since forming the administration in May. Industries Minister S Keerthana stated that total cumulative investment commitments in the government's first 100 days have crossed Rs 1 lakh crore through 104 MoUs, averaging Rs 1,000 crore of committed capital per day. She noted that the state is targeting a 1.5 trillion USD economy by 2036 through a mix of greenfield investments from new companies and brownfield expansions from existing investors.

Key corporate commitments announced at the conclave include Australia-headquartered Avid DEM investing Rs 7,000 crore for mining components, infrastructure projects, healthcare, and mobility solutions. J K Tyre signed an MoU for Rs 5,143 crore in Kanchipuram for tyre manufacturing, while Daimler India Commercial Vehicles committed Rs 4,000 crore for operations in Kanchipuram. Hinduja Group and Lucas TVS each pledged Rs 2,500 crore toward renewable energy, EV components, and mobility solutions.

Other notable manufacturing investments include Saint-Gobain committing Rs 2,000 crore for a new unit in Krishnagiri and expansion in Kanchipuram, Japan-based YKK India investing Rs 1,651 crore in Thiruvallur for zipper and fastening products, Titan Company investing Rs 1,000 crore in Hosur, and Avalon Technologies pledging Rs 1,000 crore in Kanchipuram. Super Micro Computer Systems signed an MoU to invest Rs 477 crore for AI server manufacturing in Chennai.

In the aerospace and technology sectors, Skyroot Aerospace will invest Rs 250 crore to set up its first Tamil Nadu facility in Tuticorin, creating 500 jobs. Agnikul Cosmos pledged Rs 400 crore for space technology assembly in Tuticorin, Ultraviolette Automotive committed Rs 779 crore for an electric motorcycle facility in Krishnagiri, and ZF Wind Power will invest Rs 175 crore in Coimbatore. A total of 25 companies are making their initial investments in the state, supported by a newly introduced 21-day approval clock for licensing.
