TN Revenue Augmentation Committee Holds Consultative Meeting in Chennai

The revenue augmentation committee of the Tamil Nadu government held a consultative meeting with trade and industry associations, public finance experts, and members of the public on Thursday in Chennai.

The committee was constituted by the state government to recommend measures for augmenting the state's own tax and non-tax revenues on a sustainable basis.

Montek Singh Ahluwalia, chairman of the committee, addressed the gathering and stated that augmenting state revenues requires the continued support of all stakeholders. He noted that the ground-level insights and practical experience shared by participants during the consultations were of great value to the panel.

Ahluwalia said the suggestions gathered during the session will be examined by the committee alongside inputs already submitted by various revenue-generating departments across the state government.

In addition to trade representatives, the committee held consultations with domain experts, including representatives of multilateral agencies and academic institutions, who presented their perspectives on potential revenue augmentation measures.

The chairman also confirmed that feedback and suggestions submitted by the general public through e-mail will be reviewed as part of the committee's ongoing deliberations.
