TN Minister Aadhav Arjuna Calls for Southern Unity to Produce Prime Minister

Tamil Nadu Public Works Department Minister Aadhav Arjuna called on southern states to come together and produce a Prime Minister during proceedings in Chennai on Wednesday.

Speaking on the state government's anti-delimitation resolution in the legislative assembly, the minister argued that the concentration of national political power needed to shift. He questioned why southern states could not collectively shape the nation's leadership when five or six northern states currently do so.

Arjuna stated that power and authority should not be limited to states like Bihar, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. He advocated for an able leader from Tamil Nadu or south India to emerge as the country's Prime Minister in the future.

Emphasizing the intent behind the resolution, Arjuna noted that just as southern voices echo in the state assembly, they must also echo in Parliament. His speech was met with the thumping of desks by members on the treasury benches.
