TN Govt Monitoring Rescue of Stranded Mansarovar Pilgrims, Minister Informs Assembly

The Tamil Nadu government is closely monitoring the rescue of pilgrims from the state who are stranded due to catastrophic floods in Nepal on an hourly basis, School Education Minister A Rajmohan informed the Assembly in Chennai on Thursday. The state is also working to ascertain the whereabouts of 49 travellers who departed through a Chennai-based tour operator.

Responding to a call-attention motion moved by opposition parties in the Assembly, the minister stated that the government is actively tracking the situation. Measures are currently underway to bring back 20 people who have already been rescued through Kathmandu.

According to the details shared in the House, a total of 106 persons had embarked on the pilgrimage to Mansarovar. This includes 54 individuals from 10 districts across Tamil Nadu and three from Puducherry. Additionally, the government was informed that a travel agency based in Chennai had arranged the pilgrimage for another group of 49 people, whose specific travel plans and current locations are being verified.
