TN CM Announces Rs 175-Crore Semiconductor Park in Kancheepuram District

Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday announced a Rs 175-crore Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing Park at Maduramangalam in Kancheepuram district.

Making the announcement under Rule 110 in the Assembly, the Chief Minister stated that the park is aimed at attracting up to Rs 2,000 crore in investments and generating around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The project will be established by SIPCOT and will feature research and development (R&D) facilities to support companies setting up semiconductor manufacturing units in the state.

"The park will help attract investments of up to Rs 2,000 crore in the semiconductor sector and create employment opportunities for around 5,000 people," the Chief Minister said during his address to the House.

The announcement comes as Tamil Nadu seeks to expand its footprint in the semiconductor industry and secure a larger share of investments in the sector. The upcoming facility is expected to provide essential industrial infrastructure alongside R&D support for new semiconductor and electronics manufacturing units.

In addition to the semiconductor park in Kancheepuram, the Chief Minister announced the development of a Rs 400-crore Coimbatore FinTech Hub. That hub will be established by TIDCO through public-private participation and will feature office spaces, dedicated startup facilities, advanced laboratories, and skill-development and training infrastructure designed to draw global investments into financial technology sectors.
