TN Assigns Ministers and IAS Officers Across Chennai Zones for Monsoon Preparedness

The Tamil Nadu government has appointed eight ministers and senior IAS officers to monitor development works, flood preparedness, and disaster management operations across all 15 zones of Chennai, including Adyar.

Under the administrative allocation, Highways Minister Aadhav Arjuna has been tasked with overseeing the entire city of Chennai. Local monitoring responsibilities across specific zones have been distributed among seven other ministers. Minister Vijay Parthiban will oversee the zones of Adyar and Alandur, while Minister K Vignesh has been placed in charge of Perungudi and Sholinganallur.

In the northern parts of the city, Minister Ramesh will monitor Thiruvottiyur and Manali, while Minister Lokesh will be in charge of Madhavaram and Tondiarpet. Minister Arunraj has been assigned to oversee Royapuram and Thiru Vi Ka Nagar.

For central and western localities, Minister Vijay Balaji will oversee Ambattur, Anna Nagar, and Teynampet, while Minister TK Prabhu will handle Kodambakkam and Valasaravakkam.

Alongside the ministerial assignments, the state government has assigned one senior IAS officer to each of the 15 Greater Chennai Corporation zones. These IAS officers are designated to coordinate directly with the Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner to monitor local conditions.

The appointed ministers and senior officers have been instructed to inspect flood hotspots and review stalled civic infrastructure projects across the zones, coordinating with field officials to expedite ongoing works. The teams will also oversee vulnerable areas, relief material management, personnel deployment, sanitation arrangements, traffic and logistics, medical assistance, and the readiness of emergency shelters throughout the city.
