TN Assembly Moves Motion Seeking High-Level Probe Into Karnataka Forest Firing

The fatal shooting of three Tamils by the Karnataka forest department sparked strong reactions in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in Chennai on Tuesday, with legislators moving a call attention motion to demand a high-level probe into the incident.
The incident took place in the early hours of August 15 inside the Cauvery Wildlife sanctuary area. The three deceased individuals have been identified as Anthony Samy, John Rose Peter, and Kumar, all of whom resided in villages located across Hanur Taluk in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka.
During the assembly session, members raised serious concerns over the firing incident and called for an impartial, high-level investigation to uncover the complete facts surrounding the deaths of the three men.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay strongly condemned the alleged brutal killing, stating that the explanation provided by the Karnataka forest department regarding the firing is unacceptable.
In a statement shared via a social media post late on Sunday, the Chief Minister urged authorities to ensure that a fair investigation into the heinous incident is conducted by an independent high-level committee.
The issue continues to draw attention in the state assembly as lawmakers press for accountability and a comprehensive inquiry into the actions of the forest department personnel involved in the fatal shooting.
