Tiruttani Nursing Student Arrested For Morphing Woman's Photo Over Land Dispute

The Tiruttani police near Chennai arrested a 20-year-old nursing college student for allegedly morphing a woman's photograph and publishing it on social media alongside her contact number. The incident, which stemmed from an ongoing land dispute, led to local outrage and the subsequent rescue and arrest of the accused.

The accused, identified as Naresh, is a resident of a village located near Tiruttani. According to the police, Naresh and a fellow villager have been locked in a long-standing civil dispute over land. This legal conflict is currently pending before a district court.

In an attempt to settle scores regarding the ongoing court case, Naresh targeted the wife of the fellow villager involved in the dispute. He morphed a photograph of the woman and uploaded the fabricated image onto a social media platform, explicitly including her personal mobile phone number in the online post.

The social media post rapidly went viral, triggering immediate real-world consequences for the victim. The woman began receiving a barrage of obscene and sexually harassing phone calls from unknown individuals who had seen the post online.

As the harassment grew increasingly intense, the victim's family began investigating the origin of the post. They eventually managed to trace the source of the social media account back to Naresh.

Upon discovering his identity, the victim's relatives, joined by other local villagers, confronted Naresh. The situation quickly escalated, and the crowd assaulted the nursing student.

The Tiruttani police intervened in the altercation, rescuing Naresh from the angry villagers and taking him into custody. Following a formal complaint lodged by the victim, the police registered a case against him. Naresh was subsequently arrested, produced before a local court, and remanded in judicial custody.
