Tiruchirappalli Dry Port Project Gains Momentum, Says MP Durai Vaiko

The proposed dry port project at Tiruchirappalli is moving ahead after the Union government requested the Tamil Nadu government to submit a draft plan, Tiruchirappalli Member of Parliament Durai Vaiko announced on Saturday.

Speaking at a media conference in Tiruchy, the parliamentarian stated that following the request for the draft plan, the Central government promptly directed the execution of the infrastructure project.

Durai Vaiko noted that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has demonstrated keen interest in the implementation of the dry port project. With both the Union and Tamil Nadu governments showing strong interest, he expressed confidence that the documentation process would be completed shortly.

Detailing his efforts to advance the initiative, the MP shared that he had met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on five separate occasions to discuss the project. He noted that the Union Finance Minister has maintained a positive stance regarding its establishment.

Durai Vaiko conveyed to the Union government that the state administration remains keen on executing the dry port project. According to the MP, the development is projected to provide direct employment opportunities to more than 12,500 people, alongside indirect employment for lakhs of individuals across the region.
