Tiffin Stall Operator Arrested for Stabbing Friend to Death in Virugambakkam

A 65-year-old pushcart tiffin stall operator was arrested by the police after he allegedly stabbed his friend to death following an argument while the two were under the influence of alcohol in Virugambakkam on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified by the police as Karunakaran, a 65-year-old construction worker who resided in Virugambakkam. The suspect, Rajendran, also 65 years old and a resident of Virugambakkam, operated a pushcart tiffin stall in the area.
According to the Virugambakkam police, the incident occurred on Sunday when the two men were drinking alcohol together. During their drinking session, an argument broke out between the two friends. As the confrontation escalated, Karunakaran slapped Rajendran.
Enraged by the physical assault, Rajendran brought a vegetable-cutting knife and stabbed Karunakaran directly in his chest.
Following the stabbing, Karunakaran was immediately rushed to a hospital located in Vadapalani. However, doctors at the medical facility declared him dead on arrival.
The body of the deceased construction worker was later shifted to a government hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The Virugambakkam police registered a case against the suspect and subsequently arrested Rajendran. Following his arrest, he was sent to Puzhal prison.
